Digital Photography - More Camera Shopping

Posted on Friday 14 November 2008

Hi again.  Thank you for joining us at Access Now Publications to continue enjoying another 'Digital Photography Tip'.  Please feel free to visit our digital ebook, audio and software library while you are around.

'Digital Photography Secrets - Your Complete Guide' ebook can be found in our 'Hobbies & Crafts' Category along with other great titles such as Complete Guide To Fly Fishing, Family Fun Activity Collection, Scrapbooking Templates, Vintage Crochet Patterns, The Art Of Manufacturing Soap & Candles and more…

Digital Photography Tips:   'Shopping For A Low-End Digital Camera' - Part 2

Almost all low-end cameras use center-weighted metering, so you can use the old trick of using the shutter-release feature while pointing at an object with thedesired light level before taking the shot. There’s a lot of different ways to store digital photos in cameras, but almost alllow-end cameras worth considering use one of the many memory card formats.

There are too many advantages to removable memory to even consider a camera that uses only its own fixed internal memory. You will want to check before purchasing, either with the manufacturer or through an online search, to see if the particular camera you’re looking at has limitations as to card speed or capacity (some cameras can’t read or write to the newest high-capacity multi-gigabyte cards).

Capacity limits are less of a concern for low-end cameras, however, as their lower-resolution pictures take up little space. It doesn’t make sense to spend$200 on a memory card for a $50 camera unless you really need to take 2000 pictures. You may want to choose your low-end camera as much by what kind of memory it uses as by its features, especially if you’re trying to save money. Even if you don’t buy your memory cards on eBay, it can be a great place to compare prices and get an idea which types of cards (and capacities) are currently less expensive.

Most low-end cameras use standard (or rechargeable) AA or AAA batteries, which are inexpensive for casual use and found just about everywhere. A very few cameras in this class use 6-volt lithium batteries, which have become fairly common. The lithium batteries reduce the size and weight of the camera. Obviously, flash usage reduces battery life, but many cameras allow you to turn off the LCD display, which also saves considerable battery life.

You may have to think a little more about how you use the tool (many low-end cameras are slow to power-up, so that fleeting moment may not be captured, and automatic shut-off to save battery life may be as short as 30 seconds), but goodphotographic habits include knowing the limitations of the tool. Within those limits, a low-end digital camera is the most efficient way to get the job done.

Welcome back to Access Now Publications for a couple more of our 101 headache prevention tips.  We are up to 17 & 18 today.  For more great ebooks please drop in and visit our digital ebook, audio and software library.

Here is a quick link for you to go straight to our 'Women Love Life' Category where you can find, '101 Headache Prevention Tips - A Complete and Practical Guide To Preventing and Curing Painful Headaches once and for all' and more.

101 Headache Prevention Tips -

# 17 - Do not work continuously on your computer for more than half an hour.

This in fact is a very relative concept because some people tire faster than other when working on the computer. Computer screens emit radiation, so the less time in front of the computer, the better. If your eyes give you signs that it has had enough take the cue.

But often, after you get used to working on the computer, you start ignoring these signs. The best thing you can do is make it a point to give your eyes a break at least every half hour of working on the computer. The best rest that you can give your eyes is staring at a distant object. Or you can try massaging your eyes gently.

Please remember that your eyes are unlike any other part of your body so you have to take very good care of them. The same holds true when it comes to massaging your eyes as well.

- When you massage your eyes take care to use only the soft balls of your fingers.
- Do not use your finger tips because your nails could give you scratches.
- The best fingers to massage your eyes with are the three middle fingers, which are the fingers between your thumb and the little finger.
- Place the balls of your fingers on you’re your eye brows and gently press down.
- Please remember to be gentle; we are not talking about a major massage therapy here.
- Now let your fingers roll down around your eyes making gentle circling movements.
- The motion should start from the eye brows and end at the corners of the eyes near the nose bridge.
- Repeat this two or three times and you can feel your eye muscles relax.
- It is a good idea to this at least five or six times a day if you are working at something that gives a lot of strain to your eyes.

# 18 - If you feel that your eyes are under strain, take a break.
The best relaxation for your eyes is staring at a distant object or just keeping them closed. Your eyes will give you signs when they are under strain. You will find that you are getting tired sooner, your eyes may start to water or you might notice that you have to squint your eyes in order to get a better view.

What Is Global Warming: Part 3

What Is Global Warming?:  Part 3

There has been a marked increase in the number of category four and five hurricanes over the last few years. That’s because hurricanes are formed over warm sea water, and as the water temperatures of the oceans rise, more killer storms are created. Many other changes occur from warmer sea temperatures, such as the melting of the polar icecaps.
One of the results of the melting polar ice caps is that the oceans are beginning to rise. When you consider that most of the world’s population lives on or near coasts, you can start to see the problem. If we continue at our current rate of spewing greenhouse gases into the air, the oceans are expected to rise six feet in 100 years—or less. Rising sea levels threaten massive physical devastation and damage to economies worldwide. And consider this—while the United States has only four percent of the world’s population, it is responsible for 22% of the greenhouse gas emissions.
One of the first things that occur as temperatures rise is that more disease-carrying insects and rodents thrive. While we normally associate diseases such as malaria and encephalitis with other continents, we’ll be seeing a lot more of them in the future, right here in the United States, if global warming continues at its current rate. This has already started to happen, and doctors at the Harvard Medical Center have linked outbreaks of various diseases such as the Hantavirus directly to climate change.

Digital Photography - Shopping For Digital Cameras

Posted on Friday 7 November 2008

Welcome back to Access Now Publications.  Great to have you here for another 'Digital Photography Tip'.

Digital Photography Tips:   'Shopping For A Low-End Digital Camera'

Some applications demand the best quality, the finest control, and the most advanced features. Then again, no one needs to drop a thousand-dollar camerainto a river trying to get pictures for a community newsletter. So we come to theplace where the low-end digital camera becomes the best tool for the job.

What is “low-end?” There’s no real reason to pay over $100, even shopping for a brand-name camera (and you should). It’s easy to find great deals on low-end or older cameras from Fuji, HP, Canon and many more makers as low as $40 at discount stores or online. There are a number of very cheap cameras available, but low resolution, unreliability, fixed memory, and often poor or inconsistent image quality plague the bottom of this segment.

Avoid anything that says “webcam” in its description or has an unlisted resolution or a rating less than 2.1 Megapixels. Almost all brand-name low-end cameras have certain features in common with more expensive variants, such as shutter-release, flash fill, and red-eyereduction. If you anticipate the need for close-up photography, choose a camera with a “macro mode” and be prepared to work with available light or your own lighting – many low-end cameras disable their flash in macro mode, and even if they don’t you may find that the flash causes more harm than good.

While using Macro Mode, remember that most compact digital cameras (notonly the low-end ones) are “rangefinder”cameras, meaning that the viewthrough the viewfinder is at a different angle than the final shot. For close-ups,use the LCD display (just about all cameras in this range have one) to frame the picture.

For most of the applications you’d use a low-end camera for, you don’t need to change aperture, sensitivity or metering settings away from automatic. That’s good because most low-end cameras won’t let you. You may have to compensate for that (and experiment to get to know the camera’s “automaticrules”).

You eyes need protection from these radiations because they can cause serious damage to your eyes if they are directly exposed to them. Below are some tips for choosing sunglasses.
- The sunglasses must cover the region of your eyes completely.
